Partners in the Journey of Childhood

The mission of HEART OF THE CITY KIDS is to support and minister to families by providing a nurturing Christian environment of care and education where children are encouraged through developmentally appropriate activities to achieve their greatest potential.

Our commitment to families includes creating meaningful opportunities for fun, connection, and engagement. We are honored to partner with you on the beautiful journey of childhood.

We believe every child is a precious gift from God. Each one grows at his or her own pace, with unique strengths and needs. Our goal is to welcome your child into a nurturing environment that supports growth in every area—social, spiritual, cognitive, and physical. Through developmentally appropriate activities and intentional guidance, we celebrate and encourage each child’s individual pathway to success.

We believe in the power of play! Play is essential in early childhood, offering rich opportunities for learning and discovery. It supports social development, fosters cognitive growth, and helps children make sense of the world around them. Our daily schedule is thoughtfully designed to include a variety of engaging activities—especially play—that inspire curiosity, creativity, and joyful learning.

(Weekday Program)

Licensing

The Heart of the City Kids programs at First Baptist Church have been licensed by the Alabama State Department of Human Resources since our Full Day program opened in 1981. The physical space is also inspected and approved by the Madison County Health Department and Huntsville Fire Department.

Weekday Programs

Full Day
Our full day program is open year round, Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM-5:30 PM. This program offers full-time, full-day child care for families needing year round care. Classes are available for children ages six weeks through pre-kindergarten. Registration is open year-round.

Half Day Infants - 2 years old
Our Mother's Morning Out program offers care for infants (six weeks) through two years old. This program is available from August to May, Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM-1:00 PM. Registration opens in February for the following fall.

Ranger Camp
Ranger Camp is a 8-10 week summer camp program for kids finishing kindergarten through second grade and needing full-time care. Camp is available Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM-5:30 PM. Registration opens in January for the following summer.

Kids' Space

In 2019, our church decided to undergo a renovation of our Children's Ministry area - including our Heart of the City Kids. This project was completed in 2023. See photos of the finished space below.
