Arts Ministry
Beauty from Brokenness
A "mosaic" is a work of art that is made from broken pieces of glass and tile, positioned to make a beautiful image. FBC is known for our Mosaic of Jesus on the front of our building - the largest display of public art in Huntsville. But that is not our only engagement with the arts. From exhibits in our Upper Gathering Space to community projects at Arts Huntsville's annual "Panoply" event, we routinely engage in arts ministry.

In addition, replacing the tiles on our "Cosmic Christ" Mosaic has given us a lot of tiles from the original display. You may wonder what we do with those! Each tile from the original piece of art is being repurposed into jewelry, small works of art, and larger projects such as our Huntsville Cityscape mosaic that was donated to the Downtown Public Library and our mosaic commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the Apollo Moon Landing that is now on display at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center.

From time to time, we offer "mosaic classes" which invite the community to come and make jewelry and other works of art from our old tiles. If you'd be interested in joining us for one of these classes, contact as at info@fbchsv.org. And while some of the art we create is donated, others are sold - with all of the profits benefiting our Fresh Expressions of Church. All of these efforts combine to help us - and you - create beauty from brokenness.
