Perry County - Sowing Seeds of Hope
Each summer First Baptist plans and implements mission work in Perry County Alabama. The annual week-long trip of men, women, children, and families help make life a little better in Perry County Alabama. Construction projects led by Gordon Perry help improve homes and other community buildings such as churches. We also plan and carry out many service projects similar to Serving the City. Projects are planned according to gifts and talents of our volunteers. Projects may include along with the construction work sports camps, outreach, Vacation Bible Schools, self help seminars, and many other projects. In January of each year a form is provided for interested people to fill out indicating their desire to go on the mission trip.
Sunday School groups, families, and individuals are all encouraged to participate. Some may choose to stay all week or one or two days to help out with the work. Our lodging is at Judson College in Marion, Alabama.
There are many reasons to join in the work in Perry County. The schedule is flexible, lodging costs are low, and Perry County is only a two and a half hour drive from Huntsville.
The Cooperative Baptist Fellowship has committed 20 years to Perry County to help raise the standard of living and to provide a strong witness to one of the poorest counties in the United States. More information about the Sowing Seeds of Hope ministry is at their website and their Facebook page.
