GOOD NEWS NOTES - Week 11
Through the 40 days of purpose effort last fall we learned of our "shape" The letters stand for spiritual gift, heart, ability, personality and experience. All of these factors come together to make us who we are. You are unique; no one is quite like you anywhere. I believe you are uniquely shaped to be used as a tool in the lives of certain missing people. There may be no one else who has just the right mix of the certain factors that will touch the people with whom you come in contact.
I believe that there is no accident in God's plan to have you working where you work, going to school where you go to school, living in the neighborhood where you live, going to that certain grocery store most of the time, having the family you have, coming in contact with hundreds of people that only you come in contact with. I also believe it is true that missing people need several "touches" from Christians and God to prepare the way for them to find their way home. So, we can never know for sure when God will place a certain missing person at a certain time, in a certain circumstance, in our presence, to say a certain word that will point them to God. Amazing - Amazing Grace.
Now that might just seem a little scary to think we have opportunities and we may not ever be aware of them. That's why we must be comfortable with who we are. We are sinners saved by God's grace. We are not preachers, we are not like Paul, we are not like Peter, and we are not like Billy Graham. We are only someone whom Christ has died for and we believe this is the best way to live our lives, in the love of God. We may be ordinary in many ways but wonderfully unique in how God has intervened in our lives. God can use that as a tool to touch another's life. Please make the commitment to prepare for these encounters by writing out various testimonies that may work with a variety of needs. Think of scriptures that may help you at different times of need. Reread week 8 for more help.
Scripture - Luke 12:11b-12 Don't worry about defending yourselves - what you'll say or how you'll say it. The right words will be there. The Holy Spirit will give you the right words when the time comes.
Action - Think of the experiences in your life that make you uniquely you. How do you imagine God would like to use you? Would you reflect on the different ways that Christ has made a difference in your life that no one else has experienced but you?
Prayer - Pray that God will use the unique you to touch people. Lord, if all of this is true, then there are missing people out there that only I will be able to touch. Help me not to miss the chance to be bold and share just the right words. I trust that you lead me to say the right thing.
